25th VinAgora International Wine Competition, Hungary

30-03-2024

The 25th anniversary of the VinAgora International Wine Competition took place from 5-8 April in Budapest, one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe. Hungary's only international wine competition had been eagerly anticipated by Hungarian and international winemakers who had submitted samples for evaluation by the judges.

This year, a total of 876 entries were received from 13 countries, with 674 from Hungary and 202 from abroad, including Australia, Brazil, Spain, France, Germany, Lebanon, Switzerland, and Italy. The competition featured 69 judges from 17 countries, including Hungary, and the organisers ensured that the event maintained the highest possible quality, with 31 staff members present at all times.

The organisers also arranged pleasant afternoon programmes for the professionals to relax. The wines were judged according to the method recommended by the OIV (International Vine and Wine Office) and the rigorous standards set by VinoFed (Federation of Major International Wine Competitions). To maintain quality, no more than 35 wines were judged by one person on a single day, exceeding even the strictest rules due to the concentration and sensory strain required for judging.

The official release of the results was scheduled for 6 May, after data processing and post-processing.
