BACCHUS, INTERNATIONAL WINE, VERMOUTH, AND SPIRITS COMPETITION Spain's largest wine competition, has released its complete list of medal winners. A total of 621 labels, including wines, vermouths, and wine-based spirits, earned the top ratings out of the 1,985 samples entered, achieving the coveted Grand Gold Bacchus, Gold Bacchus, and Silver Bacchus awards.

Spain takes the top spot on the podium, but Bacchus also solidifies its position as the largest Ibero-American showcase worldwide, with wines and spirits from Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Portugal standing out in its list of winners. Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Moldova, along with Germany, Italy, France, Australia, and New Zealand to a lesser extent, round out the most international podium ever seen at Bacchus.

A special mention goes to the 76 Grand Gold Bacchus winners, labels that scored over 93 points as evaluated by the Bacchus 2024 tasting panel. Among them, Itsasmendi Artizar 2018 from Bodegas Itsasmendi, Salgüero Rosado 2019 from Bodegas Prado Rey, Beronia Gran Reserva 1973 from Bodegas Beronia, Cuvée 1887 Brut Nature Organic from Cavas Hill (Ferrer Miranda), Amontillado Añada 1975 from González Byass, and Brandy Fundador Sherry Cask from Bodegas Fundador receive additional recognition as the Best White, Rosé, Red, Sparkling, Generous, and Spirit of Bacchus 2024, as well as corresponding awards from the World Federation of Major Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED) in their respective categories.

Finally, regarding the awards dedicated to the Best Winemakers of Bacchus 2024, the trio consists of José Hidalgo Togores (Still Wines - Pago de los Capellanes and others), Brazilian Joao Valduga (Sparkling Wines - Casa Valduga), Victoria Frutos Climent (Generous and Liqueur Wines - Grupo Estevez), and Marcos Alguacil (Wine-based Spirits - Bodegas Osborne).

The International Bacchus Competition, organized since 1996 by the Spanish Tasters' Union, has been a resounding success, celebrating its twenty-second anniversary by including wine-based spirits (Brandy, Orujo, Pisco, and Singani) for the first time.
